Waves Workshop | Understanding the Global Fashion Supply Chain

Recently WAVES team facilitated a workshop to explore the global environmental and social impact of everyday clothing items.

This experiential workshop invited a group of curious youngsters from Cyprus, Germany and Bulgaria to explore the journey of everyday clothing items and understand how the fashion industry connects us to global systems of production, labour, and consumption.

Through interactive activities and group discussions, participants were reflecting on their own attitudes and habits around clothing, questioning how and why we buy what we wear.

The workshop introduced key concepts such as global supply chains, the environmental impact of textile production (e.g. water use, pesticides in cotton farming), and the social realities behind garment manufacturing.

Participants were encouraged to make connections between their daily choices and wider global issues such as inequality, sustainability, and human rights. The workshop encouraged reflection and discussion on how we can act as responsible consumers and educators, using our choices and influence to promote more sustainable and ethical practices.

Overall, the workshop also aimed to support teachers in integrating global citizenship, sustainability, and critical thinking into their classrooms through participatory and experiential learning methods.

This workshop was hosted by Γ' Τεχνική και Επαγγελματική Σχολή Εκπαίδευσης και Κατάρτισης Λεμεσού and took place within the framework of Erasmus+ School Mobility.
